Omora

2023

Objects often carry the identities of the people who own them, becoming extensions of their selves and symbolic representations of their unique identities. "Omora," a short film created for Queer Objects 1.0—an exhibition spotlighting queer histories in the North East region of India—explores the existence of queer identities within traditionalistic surroundings. The film emphasizes the assertion of these identities through the objects owned by queer individuals, providing a nuanced perspective on the manifestations of queer histories in the possessions of the North East's queer community.

Made in partnership with Zubaan Projects and Queer Objects.

Releasing soon.

That Which Has No Clue By Rumi (2021)

"花" ("Hana"; Flower), a short film conceived during the COVID-19 pandemic. Inspired by the Japanese folk song "Celestial Maiden's Song"/Teneyo no Uta, the film explores the beauty inherent in everyday life. Following the verses of the folk song, the narrative seeks to emphasize that even in the smallest ripple on a lake or the gentle sway of a leaf, a universe of significance resides.

music : 'Teneyo no Uta"  from "The Tale of Princess Kaguya".

Round, round, go round, Waterwheel, go round

Go round, and call Mr. Sun

Go round, and call Mr. Sun

Birds, bugs, beasts, grass, trees, flowers

Bring spring and summer, fall and winter

Bring spring and summer, fall and winter

Go round, come round, come round, O distant time

Come round, call back my heart

Come round, call back my heart

Birds, bugs, beasts, grass, trees, flowers

Teach me how to feel

If I hear that you pine for me

I will return to you.

the process of memory , 2021

The Process of Memory explores memories as abstract manifestations, interweaving emotions and experiences through prints made from human bodies on canvas. This multimedia exhibition combines photography, computer science, and mixed-reality experiences, alongside traditional printmaking and painting, inviting viewers to appreciate the intangibility of memories. Accessible in the digital space, it serves as a complete museum exhibit with state-of-the-art virtual techniques ensuring meticulous detail. This project, crafted over six months, offers a unique perspective on memory, emphasizing accessibility and the beauty of its impermanence.

Exhibition on Identity (2019)

Projection-Mapping installation titled "Exhibition On Identity", an interactive installation themed around gender and the projections of the world at large on genders. The installation invited viewers to step inside and become a part of the installation, hence the person-shaped cutout. The societal and cultural norms that get imposed on us as part of our upbringing get projected onto the viewer as they step in front of the visual canvas.

Revisiting DehalBagan | 2019

Dehalbagan, a quaint village located off the Umtru Dam Road in Byrnihat, Meghalaya, was the focus of our visit under the auspices of the #PaintAVillage Program by SBI Fellowship in collaboration with RGVN in October of last year. Our objective was to paint the village's factory, a facility crucial for the production of predominantly biodegradable cutlery. Despite the efforts of our colleagues who had commenced work the previous day, the task required a full day's commitment from us to complete.

The village's economy is predominantly sustained by the women, who are involved in every step of the production process, from sourcing raw materials to negotiating prices with traders. Their commitment to maintaining high standards of quality is evident, and they exhibit a profound sense of pride in their craftsmanship. Dehalbagan is characterized by its vibrant sense of community and warmth, making our time there exceptionally rewarding.

Amidst the current quarantine, I had the opportunity to review the footage from our visit, offering a moment of reflection on the enriching experience.
